Trumpeter Ahmed Abdullah brings his New School University Sun Ra Ensemble
rendering the music of Sun Ra live from 2 to 3 p.m., on radio station WBAI’s
Perspective with Louis Reyes Rivera. If you're too far from New York, you can
tune in on the web or catch it after the fact by going to the Internet
(_www.wbai.org_ (http://www.wbai.org/) ) after 3 p.m., Thursday – click on
archives, scroll down to the date and time, then just hit the play button. The
program remains archived for up to 14 days of initial airing. Mr. Abdullah, a
25-year veteran of the Sun Ra Arkestra, teaches his mentor's music and
philosophy to the New School's music majors. The performance on WBAI has been an
annual April event for the past 8 years.

On Thursday, May 6th at 9pm, the Ensemble will perform an end of semester
concert at the New School, 55 West 13th, 5th Floor performance space. The
concert is Free and open to the public!

This year's Sun Ra New School Ensemble is comprised of some really gifted
students who work extremely well together. They have taken the music of Sun
Ra and made it into the special music it can become in the hands of folks who
understand its magic. Look to hear Sun Ra classics such as Tapestry From an
Asteroid, Enlightenment, Space is the Place, Saturn and many other
surprises. One can still listen in to the performance done by this group on

The New School Sun Ra Ensemble directed by Ahmed Abdullah and featuring Luther Wong on trumpet, tenor saxophonist Dean Buck, baritone saxophonist Adam Robinson, drummer Kiril Orenstein, bassist Max Johnson and vocalist Morgane Moulherat will perform a special engagement on Monday, June 21st from 2-3pm in front of the Brooklyn Historical Society, 128 Pierpoint Street in Downtown Brooklyn. Master percussionist Sabor and master poet Louis Reyes Rivera will also perform with the ensemble as guests.
