i know, this is a very late addition, but if you're in the neighbourhood and
if it isn't too late, you should go!! the ictus ensemble is a
big name in the contemporary music scene and they will be performing frank zappa's
'the black page'. and it's not just that, they will be performing it
twice. (yes, you read it right).

if you don't know de foolz, check'm out. they play zappa.

de foolz are about to record a live album !! this will happen
july 10, 11 and 12 in 'het bluescafé' in apeldoorn. as lex said:
'strictly zappa'.
so when was the last time you were in the audience when a band was recording
a live album and playing zappa music?
right.

- wagga
jawaka: warts 'n' all
(2002, cdr, uk, private release) - all compositions by
frank zappa

meyrick was kind enough to mention this british band. thanx, bob.
wagga jawaka has been around since 1994 (!). the band plays the music of frank
zappa and they sound really great doing it. they could have
skipped the vocal parts (the album is mostly instrumental), but this is
neglectable when you listen to the entire album: a jazz horn section
combined with nice guitar work. that's all i need to be convinced.

carter (keyboard) said: 'The cd was recorded live in
about 3 hours, which is why we called it "warts 'n'
all". It's not perfect but if we had been able to spend days
in the studio it would have been a lot better, but c'est la vie!'.
and for those of you who think that zappa's albums had different titles
in the uk, 'wagga' is slang for 'friend' or 'mate'.
