Two questions (who's counting?) for LBRK, just before their trip to Bad Doberan & the Zappanale festival:
UniMuta: How do you feel about playing at Zappanale? Is this the first LBRK concert outside Portugal?
Tony
/ LBRK: Yes,
it is our first concert outside Portugal, and we are very happy to play at the
Zappanale.
We can hardly think of any place more suitable than Bad Doberan to make our
international debut! We are really looking forward to perform there.
UniMuta: Do you know any of the other bands that will be playing at Zappanale? Are there concerts you don't want to miss?
Tony / LBRK: Well, we don't know any of the bands. We want to attend at as much as we can, but I guess it will be impossible to see everybody. We will try at least not to miss any of the bands that play Frank Zappa's music as well as the musicians that played with him: Napoleon Murphy Brock and Denny Walley.
UniMuta: What can we expect from LBRK at Zappanale?
Tony
/ LBRK: Well,
you can expect an instrumental octet playing our own versions of a bunch of
Zappa's pieces. Most of them are organized in medleys in a somewhat zappian way.
You can also expect some improvisation as well as some kind of experimentation
inside Zappa's musical universe, in terms of arrangements. We also plan to do a
couple of vocal tunes for the first time. (All our concerts were exclusively
instrumental so far)
UniMuta: I'm looking forward to it. Thanks & see you in Bad Doberan.
LBRK (the Low Budget Research Kitchen) will be performing at the Zappanale festival on Saturday 2008/08/16, around 18:00 h.
