zappanoia

Portugese band Zappanoia performs the music of Frank Zappa.
Zappanoia was founded in 1996 by Eduardo Cunha and Rui Sousa. They are from Lisbon, Portugal.
The band has already known several formats (trio, quintet, octet), but at present Zappanoia is arranged in a quartet with the following formation:
Eduardo
Cunha: guitar and vocals
Rui
Magalhães De Sousa: bass and vocals
Diogo Sottomayor: keyboards
and vocals
July 2003 the band performed at the German Zappanale festival in Bad Doberan.
The band also contributed a song to volume seven of the "Unmatched" Zappa tribute series, released in 2004.
Shortly after the December 11 2010 concert, Jorge Manuel Gomes Rodrigues (who
had played the part of Zomby Woof at the band's Zappanale concert in 2003) took
over the Zappanoia Association.
Eduardo Cunha continues with Zappanoia (the band), but is no longer linked to
the Zappanoia Association.

In
Canecas, a small town near Lisbon, Portugal, last 21th December a group of
friends reunited to celebrate Zappa's Birthday and listen to his music. Present
were 2 portuguese bands that played Zappa's music, Miosotis and Zappanoia,
the last group testing a new formation and adapting Zappa's writing to
portuguese and social and political happenings of today.

Zappanoia has a new line up . As a musician refuses to die so the project
endures, in this litle dirt spot not big enough to welcome any Zappa's family
members The nearest event was Zappa's Madrid concert.
