bob guy
In the early sixties, Bob Guy was a local TV horror movie host who
wanted to make a record. He drove out to studio Z in a white cadillac,
wearing a business suit and horn rimmed glasses. Frank Zappa wrote
both tracks and played most of the instruments, with Dick Barber on
backup vocals and percussion.
The tracks were released on a bunch of samplers as well.
from the "Paul Buff presents the PAL and Original Sound studio archives,
vol.1" liner notes by Greg Russo:
"Another
single licensed to Donna was Bob Guy's "Dear Jeepers"/ "Letter
From Jeepers." Guy was a local radio personality and Zappa wrote both of
these Dracula-inspired send-ups. The A-side is included here, and again, the
flip will be featured later.
"
from the "Paul Buff presents the PAL and Original Sound studio archives,
vol.19" liner notes by Greg Russo:
"Another
surf title, Johnny Barakat's "Go Surfer Mo (El Zebra)," takes us into
The Hollywood Persuaders' "Organ Stomp." That HP track was not
released until recently. The Frank Zappa-written B-side of the Bob Guy single,
"Letter From Jeepers," is yet another piece of lunacy!"
