Markus Stauss is a Swiss saxophone player, composer and teacher. He is also the man behind the Spaltklang sextet.

In 2006, Markus Stauss released a promotional CDR called "Trank Zappa Grappa In Varese?".
This was followed by a first album in 2008.

In 2010, Markus Stauss released "Treasures" by Überfall on his Fazzul Music record label. Überfall was a swiss jazz-rock band that lasted from 1984 until 1991. It featured Markus Stauss, Pit Kayser and Andy Muckenhirn. "Treasures" collects material from the Überfall archives.

Ceci n'est pas un cover band de Zappa_ mais un projet réunissant des musiciens belges (dont deux cinquièmes du quintet The Wrong Object) autour du saxophoniste suisse Markus Stauss (www.fazzulmusic.ch/), figure aussi incontournable qu'iconoclaste du rock progressif et fondateur du label bâlois Fazzul. Des compositions déjantées, des riffs endiablés, des influences mêlant le jazz, le punk et la musique médiévale, et une question à laquelle il s'agit d'éviter d'apporter une réponse définitive ...
