Subject: Web Hosting??? www_Projectobject_com is homeless.
Hello
You may have noticed the project object website is DOWN
I am soliciting help from the masses - I know that amongst you are web hosters, graphic designers, musicians and more geniuses than I can imagine.
Please drop me an email if you are interested in some hosting business from us - or know of someone you host with who would. Maybe one of you works at a company that's dying to GIVE AWAY free, stable webspace! Maybe you run one.
Here's what I need :
- hosting for 3 URLs
- musician/artist friendly company or people to deal with
- secure credit card purchase capabilities
- pro level server stability - no basement projects please
- Generous amounts of memory (Streaming & downloadable audio, video) -
although we are redesigning a much leaner new site.
- to know I am supporting other independent people as much as I can, but
sneak me some free space on your DoD or cbs.com server and I won't blink!!
THANKS for your help

Ed Palermo Website <http://www.palermobigband.com>
Napoleon Brock Website <http://www.napoleonmbrock.com/>
For the past nine years, Ed Palermo and a 20+ piece band consisting of the greatest musicians in New York and beyond have paid tribute to the music of Ed's hero, Frank Zappa.
When Frank Zappa died, Ed decided to put his own music on hold so he could pay tribute to his hero. Spending countless hours figuring this amazing music out, Ed's labor of love culminated in a nine year run at New York City's prominent nightclub, the Bottom Line.
This show will be their first concert back since July of 2003.

Hey folks -- this is JUST for the NYC area people -
others can feel free to read but it's only about TONITE's show, and will bore
you to tears. thank you!! Yo, NYC-area people..- some of you got this note i
sent recently about the DON PRESTON show at THE MONKEY - set for tonite SUNDAY
SEPTEMBER 11 8:00pm... THE SHOW IS IN DANGER OF CANCELLATION !! Unless we hear
-VIA REPLY TO THIS EMAIL -that at least another 10-15 of you will be coming.
Why?? -the show will lose money, and cannot run with a small turnout. AT this
point we only have a couple of reservations, but some of you have emailed me
with questions about address, time, floor etc -- SO I ASSUME YOU'RE COMING --
BUT I MUST HEAR FROM YOU IF THIS IS DEFINITE. Otherwise - bummer- we will,
sadly, have to cancel the show. I will email again if this comes to pass. Other
Details -THE MONKEY is a special venue -audiophile room/sound surround/5.1 live
mix. -it's NOT A BAR --it is a venue without alcohol, food or other revenue
generation. -this high tech venue is COMPLETELY funded by ticket sales, and the
artist(s) paid the same way -there are only 30 or so seats, very intimate space.

is it bad karma
to try to hold a musical performance in a high-rise building in Manhattan on
9-11??? hmmm., in any event - THAT SHOW HAS BEEN CANCELLED. again - tonight's
show in NYC has been cancelled. NO SHOW TONITE the REST of the tour is ON, all
shows as scheduled. Just an NYC problem. Thanks for your emails and attempts to
help me salvage. Basically - the room needed ADVANCE SALES, and we fell short --
we have a significant WALK UP crowd , but that woudn't help today, the way it is
set up. SOrry for any inconvenience and i'm REALLY sorry for those who found out
from a poster of postcard, but have no email The tour has been going great so
far - WE WILL RETURN to "The Monkey" next year, sorry NYC people!! We
had a great gig in Bethlehem PA -- what a crowd!!!! and it was surreal to have
people paying rapt attention in a towny bar... really wild. Then last night we
played out old fave venue in central jersey - SYNAPSE STUDIOS - a great space,
all wood floor, huge yoga studio. great acoustics and we were accompanied by two
professional dancers. a great show, great fun. we premiered a new Indian-themed
piece of Don's and a new one of mine. Plus a cool Zappa cover. Don has also been
doing some solo-piano moments in the show, including Carla Bley's "Walking
Batterie Woman" SO-- come on out and see a show -- email me or check the
site for times/details. This Thursday in ALbany we share the bill with Zappa
alumni and percussionist extraordinaire ED MANN !! DON PRESTON AKASHIC ENSEMBLE

WOuld there have been "ROCKIT" without his influence??? perhaps - but with a cheesier patch! What a day!!! After fighting the NJ commuter traffic, about which thankfully - i'm CLUELESS, we made it to Cornell 10 mins late after a 4hr race thru 3 states!! Don settled right into the lecture -- demonstrated the MOOG VOYAGER a bit. There followed some GREAT stories by all about meeting Bob, working with him , amazing anecdotes. We saw some great video of KEITH EMERSON, playing the ostinato l;eft hand stuff from TARKUS -- with Bob Moog soloing over it with a theremin!!! Fun stuff. ALso lots , LOST of cool pics of the gentlemen on the panel -- back in the day with the FIRST modular synths used in performance there was a great segment with Pat and Don on how they did the APOCALYPSE NOW! sndtrk. great insights, Coppola stories (his house is BUGGED - by him!!) Met some amazing students as well as fans who found out and attended the free lecture. Out in front they had an ACTUAL vintage THEREMIN, MINIMOOG and other stuff i had no idea what it was! . great attention to details Many many tales. Too many to remember. And -- in minutes we're all off to a Thai restaurant - then THE GIG -- in TRumansburg -- right across the st from THE ORIGINAL MOOG FACTORY!!! Stay tuned for some cool pics. PS -the whole lecture was recorded professionally by the school - stay tuned- i will see about posting all or some of the day's proceedings online PEACE -- see you at a show this week!! - Andre' PS --Don's 73rd birthday party -- Philly - next wed sep 21!! Hey folks
Well - we made it back home. What a ball club. Thanks first and foremost to Ike
Willis, Napoleon Murphy Brock, Eric Svalgard, Dave Johnsen, Glenn Leonard, Laura
Eggplant Wilson, Jon Pakalolo Braun and our management, Howie and Mike at
CEGmusic.com. Hey - I'll even look in the mirror and say "Thanks for believing
in insanity"
51 days, 39 gigs, or whatever way you count it with a couple 2-nighters etc. Weather was great to us - we SAW snow on the highway once that I can remember..and had to load in rain a couple times. Otherwise - perfection. It was great seeing you all, what an amazing fan base. THANKS so much for the support and making sure we can sustain this INSANE idea of ...performing the music of a ten-years-gone, still largely unknown musical iconoclast. That's why we do it...and clearly there are a lot of you lurking out there in the towns and cities of the USA. Musically - it was one of our best tours, the fun was exceptional as well. And the politics kept us laughing, somehow. Check out www.zappa.com , go to the forum, for lotsa pix, setlists and more.
Stay tuned for more about how it all went, pictures etc. THE roll call of "WEAPONS OF MASS DISTORTION" and special guests was mind-numbing. We kept finding them, including:
Mike Keneally (MK Band, keneally.com Zappa band 1988) -
Albany NY
Denny Walley - (Zappa band 1975-81) -Atlanta GA, Asheville NC
Jon Fishman (drums, PHISH, Pork Tornado, JMP) - Burlington VT
Seahag (robbieseahag.com PT Proj/Obj- guitar ) - several E-coast shows
Jordan Shapiro ( PT Proj/Obj keys)- several E-coast shows
Jon Braun (drums, insidiousrays.com & Proj/Obj driver) -most cities
Ed Palermo - (palermobigband.com) Asbury Park NJ, NYC NY
Jimmy Wilson - (Flugelhorn, trumpet) Baltimore MD, Cleveland OH
Dave Fiuczynski - (torsos.com, guitar & fretless gtr) Cambridge MA
Gary Lucas (garylucas.com -ex Beefheart, Jeff Buckley, guitar) - NYC NY
Carl Restivo (ex-Proj/Obj gtr/voc, IZ. Vocals- carlrestivo.com) NYC NY
Joe Hendel (trombone, Yale sophomore) - Hartford CT, NYC NY
Reverend B-ill (soundofurchin.com- guitar) - Asbury Park NJ

Maddie Svalgard (voc, Berklee freshman) - Cambridge MA, Hartford CT
Max Svalgard (bass, schoolofrock.com, bass) - Phila & Downington PA

(And a couple others whose names I missed, help anyone?? The sax player in NYC
and the other vocalist in Cambridge.)
THANKS to them all for making it an INSANE ride

Hi.
Andre' here with an incredibly informal bulk email. thanks for reading it. For
the suffering of the world, the artists can only offer up the fruits of their
souls. At least that much, and hopefully more. So we offer these performances,
we hope they heal some of the pain going on right now. Or at least provide a
positive respite from it all. Hope to see you on the road with PO, but first
this tour with Don Preston, I'm very excited as it's always a blast to create
new music with Don and to explore the new compositions he always brings along.
It's the highest honor to be able to work and learn from one of the true masters
of Improvisation and Jazz Composition. See you at a show!! Andre' Contact:

You probably know Don's pioneering work with Zappa's MOTHERS OF INVENTION, Don
was Zappa's ORIGINAL SYNTH PLAYER -('66-'74). Don still lives in Los Angeles,
playing solo electronic, jazz quartet and with the GrandeMothers - fellow Zappa
alumni. Don's Akashic Ensemble combines ambient moods with sampled vocals,
analog tweaks and percussive loops. As one of the first, if not THE first person
to perform onstage using synthesizers in a rockband setting, Don Preston's
knowledge and skill at live synthesis sprawls over FIVE DECADES. This tour sees
him return to live performance once again, on the cutting edge of live
electronic music in 2005. Don was there for the dawn of electronic musical
performance. He has always played a major role in it's development and
popularization, and has used every generation of sound design tools, from his
own home made oscillator and filter contraptions in the late 50s, through the
first Moog, Buchla and EMS synths, all the way to current software-based synths
like Absynth and Reason. He has played just about every form of music, and he is
one of the few in his generation that keeps evolving along with the technology.
His friendship with synth designer Bob Moog continues to this day, Don being one
of the lucky few who played Moog's early prototypes in the mid-60s, giving Bob
feedback on his designs. His experience playing with everyone from Elvin Jones
and Frank Zappa to Carla Bley, Meredith Monk and The Residents provides Don with
a unique perspective on composing with synthesis, musique concrete and sampling.
His work on countless soundtracks including 'Apocalypse Now', are even more
indicative of his range. Don continues to compose and break new ground on his
MiniMoog Voyager, Mac G3 Laptop, EMS synth and even `processed upright bass´.
Don continues his work in many musical universes - his recent piano jazz trio CD
"Transformation" has been highly acclaimed by NPR and Downbeat
magazine, he is completing an orchestral work to be premiered Spring 2006 in
Europe. HEAR THE CD: http://cdbaby.com/cd/akashicensemble Don's AKASHIC ENSEMBLE

1934-2005http://www.projectobject.com Don Preston Biographical Sketch Born in
Flint, Michigan in 1932 into a family of musicians, Preston began studying music
at an early age. Don Preston´s father was the composer-in-residence for the
Detroit Symphony. At 12 years old Don Preston was thrown out of school for
hypnotizing several students and a nun. The nuns used to beat his hands with a
big ruler when he made mistakes playing the piano. Because of this weird
treatment he began to like strange and dissonant music. Preston later did a
stint in the army, serving in Trieste, Italy. Upon his return to Detroit during
the early '50s, Don Preston associated with pianist Tommy Flanagan. He also sat
in with Elvin Jones and others at the city's West End Cafe where Yusef Lateef
conducted twice-a-week jam sessions with Milt Jackson's brother, bassist Ollie
Jackson. Don Preston moved to Los Angeles in 1957 where he hooked up with
pianist Paul Bley, bassist Charlie Haden, and others who were hearing jazz in
new ways. Many will recognize Don Preston from his long collaboration with Frank
Zappa as the keyboardist and one of the original members of the Mothers of
Invention. Preston performed and recorded with Zappa until 1974. He is a
co-founder of the Grandmothers and still active with the band, completing an
extensive tour in Summer-Fall 2000. Often compared to Cecil Taylor for his style
of attacking the keys with intense passion, Don Preston´s solos also reflect
intellect, technical skill and a storyteller's way with a line. Preston´s
playing, like his compositions, ranges across panoramas of mood and emotion, all
colored with the freedom that comes from possessing remarkable facility. Don
Preston has played and recorded with the likes of John Lennon, Peter Erskine and
John Carter. Preston has also scored more than 20 feature film scores and 14
plays. Don Preston has received numerous awards, and has performed with the Los
Angeles Philharmonic and London Philharmonic. Known to jazz and keyboard
aficionados for his pioneering contributions in the use of synthesizers and
piano, legendary clarinetist and composer John Carter dubbed Don Preston the
"father of modern synthesis." Selected list of artists Don Preston has
performed with include: John Lennon, Yoko Ono, Frank Zappa, Lou Rawls, Al
Jarreau, Nat King Cole, Billy Daniels, Johnny Ray, Vaughn Monroe, Connie
Francis, Herbie Mann, Elvin Jones, Charlie Hayden, Art Davis, Paul Bley, Carla
Bley, Joe Beck, Shorty Rogers, Leo Sayer, Charles Lloyd, Nelson Riddle, J.R.
Montrose, Flo and Eddie (Howard Kaylan & Mark Volman of The Turtles) Yusef
Lateef, Don Ellis, Meredith Monk, Bobby Bradford and Michael Mantler. Visit the
Don Preston website.

hey, Andre' here hang tight -- complete PO tourdates
will be up... in a matter of days... it's gonna be a wild tour -lotsa
surprises..not only Ike Willis & Napoleon Murphy Brock but also multiple
appearances by slide wizard Denny Walley in GA, NC !! But in this email i wanted
to publicize a great magazine i have become involved with as a writer -- my 2nd
feature appears in this month's issue. "STATE OF MIND" is mostly
available in NY state, VT, CT, ME, NH, and growing thru the jamband network like
a weed. I
really like this paper because, like Relix to a degree, they go waaay beyond
modern jambands into classic stuff and current fusion, jazz, rock, bluegrass,
pop and avant musics. Check it out -- and we will have some copies available on
tour. This month they asked me to do the 'Musicians on Musicians' column and it
was a real easy call since I was waist deep in getting set to tour with Don. see
ya!!-Andre'..as ever.. STAY TUNED Hey folks! It´s time to throw fake blood on your loved ones, dress up
in animal costumes, put on a kick ass album and let this month's issue of State
of Mind take you from Oklahoma to Mars and back! Yes, folks, kick back and read
what Wayne Coyne from the Flaming Lips has to say about the religiousness of
rock & roll and what´s in store for the Lips in the coming year.
Roll through the pages and you will find out that the bastardos are
playing on. Blues Traveler has just released their eighth studio album (¡Bastardos!)
and John Popper and Chan Kinchla have a lot to say about it.
Egoless music? That's the approach Lotus is taking, and it´s working.
This Philly quintet is on a roll and is even currently overseas sharing their
groove with the people of Japan. But don´t worry-they´re coming back, and will
be touring throughout the Northeast in October. Our Spirited Life features a
wonderful spirit, saxophonist/flautist/vocalist Shannon Lynch of Lynch. Find out
why we're all unique in this month´s column and get a little insight into
Shannon´s world. Our good friend, the Mother of Reinvention himself, André
Cholmondeley shares his thoughts on the genius of keyboardist Don Preston. André
is out on tour this month with Preston's band, Akashic Ensemble. They are at
Savannah's in Albany, NY this Thursday the 15th, and we'll be enjoying them here

Project/Object
With Napoleon Murphy Brock Performing The Music of Frank Zappa Announces Fall
Tour 2007
Hot
Off 2006 ZPZ Tour Legendary Zappa Frontman Napoleon Murphy Brock Prepares to
Amaze Audiences Once Again
2007/09/08
(New York, NY) Project/Object, the acclaimed and internationally known Frank
Zappa repertoire band, is back with its "Fall Surge for Zappa Music"
tour, October 10 thru 24, 2007. With former Zappa vocalist/saxophonist Napoleon
Murphy Brock as the focal point of this particular installment of
Project/Object, longtime fans can expect a unique and fresh lineup from the
seasoned touring band - highlighting not only material from Brock's albums and
tours with Zappa that started in 1974 - but also many tracks people have not
heard him sing before. Napoleon's soulful vocals, and "exotic dancing"
as Frank used to call it -- will help make Project/Object's fall tour a
phenomenon. Brock is fresh off his lengthy stint as lead vocalist for Dweezil
Zappa's ZPZ tour, and with Project/Object he just played the highlight set to
record attendance at the annual Zappanale festival in Germany in August 2007.
Project/Object
has reached a whole new generation of critical music fans, helping to promote,
publicize and keep the spirit of Frank Zappa's music alive through their
concerts. Best of all, the band has played with well over a dozen of Zappa's
most important alumni in at least 28 states, as well as Canada and Germany.
Project/Object continually seeks to celebrate this successful insurgency into
the minds of so many brand new young fans, as well as seasoned Zappa listeners.
Featuring!!!
Napoleon

Andre'
Cholmondeley - guitar, vocals
Dave
Johnsen - bass, vocals
Eric
Slick - drums, vocals, electronics
Eric
Svalgard - keys, vocals
and
special guests!
Project/Object
formed in the early '90s in New Jersey. After building a fan base in the
tri-state area, Project/Object decided to take their show on the road,
performing Zappa's music in more cities and larger venues, with a growing set
list from every era of Zappa's 30-year recording career. The band strives to
stay true to Frank's vision of constantly challenging the musicians and the
audiences.
Since
1998, when the band first took their act on the road, the following
Zappa/Mothers alumni have performed with the band: Napoleon Murphy Brock, Ike
Willis, Jimmy Carl Black, Ray White, Don Preston, Bunk Gardner, Denny Walley,
Mike Keneally, Arthur Barrow, Ed Mann, Roy Estrada, Billy Mundi and even Al
Malkin. Other notable artists they've collaborated with include Phish's Jon
Fishman, Capt. Beefheart/Jeff Buckley guitarist Gary Lucas, Chuck Garvey, Al
Schnier and Jim Loughlin of moe, New York City big band leader and
"Zappologist" Ed Palermo, and Dweezil Zappa drummer Jerry Cucurullo.
Frank
Zappa was extremely influential to many musicians and bands, from The Beatles,
Todd Rundgren, Alice Cooper and Yes to many 'jam bands', including Phish, moe
and Umphrey's McGee. While many jam band fans are aware that Frank Zappa was
influential, they are largely unfamiliar with his music. Of those who are
familiar, many were too young to have seen him in concert. Project/Object, with
the inclusion of former Zappa frontman Napoleon Murphy Brock, is the closest
they will get to the live Zappa experience, and the band has been enjoying
increasing support from this growing scene.

--Tonight CANCELLED in Boston!!
TONIGHT,
is CANCELLED!! - -BILL's BAR, Boston MA - 21
Nov 2008
Hello
Folks
sorry
to announce this -- you may have seen it on various websites by now.
Adelaide
Gail Zappa is at it again - her usual, yearly waste of legal fees, to scare
clubs into backing out of shows with many groups, including ours. I am proud to
say -- that in 12 years or more - she has ONLY succeeded in getting THREE gigs
cancelled, out of 100s, maybe over 1000 shows.....
So--
TONIGHT, is CANCELLED!!
BILL's
BAR, Boston MA
21 Nov 2008
Sorry
about the inconvenience........
Please
post this anywhere and email to anyone you'd like:
We strongly support you adding comments to our myspace www.myspace.com/projectobject
We strongly support you adding comments to the forum at www.zappa.com
We strongly support you adding comments to the forum at www.killuglyradio.com
"Due
to Adelaide Gail Zappa and her incessant, worldwide legal attacks on fans
honoring Frank Zappa's music, and attempts to negate his request (according to
the Zappa hotline, Dec 1993) to "Play My Music", the Project/Object
show for Fri 21 Nov 2008, at Bill's Bar in Boston, has been cancelled.
Stand
by for further details on the threatening letters. All other shows, have
proceeded fantastically or are proceeding as planned, since what we do is 100%
legal under US law. It's sad that lawyers are being enriched every year by this
useless letter-writing campaign (all clubs also get threat letters).
FYI
- The band Ugly Radio Rebellion, who you'll remember was under attack for Dec.
2007 shows, just had to cancel all their Nov 2008 shows due to a couple of
clubs' unfounded fears of Adelaide Gail Zappa suing them. Bogus Pomp in Florida
also recently was attacked for celebrating this music. Artists in Germany also
continue to be attacked. Other artists worldwide performing shows, or legally
releasing recordings of Zappa music are regularly attacked.
What
a waste of good money that could be used to release more Zappa music......
We
are not breaking any laws and we will continue to perform Frank Zappa music for
you. And maybe even a little of the music of Mozart, Stravinsky, Gustav Holst,
The Seeds ('Pushing Too Hard' used in 'Sy Borg'), Yes (1984 'Bamboozled' solo
section), The Beatles (medley played on 1988 Zappa tour), Richard Berry (Frank
quoted "Louie Louie" DOZENS of times), Herbie Hancock (riffs quoted in
'Greggery Peccary'), Culture Club ('I'll tumble for ya'), The Doors ('The End',
'Light My Fire')..and on and on and on....
I
am conducting research into where and when Frank Zappa got permission to
perform, record or parodize ALL of these and many, many other various artists'
music. Of course sometimes he sought permission, and when RECORDED and RELEASED,
he certainly paid mechanical royalties. But certainly many times he didn't.
For
a guy who has a LARGE part of his art based on USING THE MATERIAL OF OTHERS, his
estate is strangely, hypocritically opposed to any one else doing the same!

Hello
Friends of The School of Rock
Beginning
this Saturday we are going back to our roots and bringing back Mr Napoleon
Murphy Brock...the ORIGINAL GUEST PROFESSOR.
We
have had plenty of wonderful artists come in since we kicked off the Guest
Professor series way back in 2004, but none have done a better job with the
kids. Napi is a endless fountain of music, love, and enthusiasm, and his wide
smile spreads quickly among the kids.
So...please
come see this show. Its awesome. And if you don't mind, feel free to forward
this along to your lists. The shows will be great, and if people are actually
there to see them then they will be awesome.

A
BENEFIT FOR CHERI JIOSNE - SEP 27 - SULLIVAN HALL NYC
Hello folks
Hoping
this message finds you well.
While
there have been real high points and really great moments --It's been a very
hard year for me and my loved ones, most of you know about the tragic &
sudden loss of my mom in July, 10 weeks ago today. Many of you also know that
day arrived against a backdrop of very tough times -- my other half and love of
my life Cheri Jiosne has been fighting breast cancer for almost a year now.
She
is doing as well as one can, in fact better I think - she looks great, feels
great and is several months into an intense program combining various schools of
herbalism, holistic methods, Qi gong, Acupuncture and diet with a low dose
Alternative Chemo program called IPT.
It's
ironic (or not) that the current national debate has been about health care --
we too are amongst the millions of Americans without health care insurance. The
small amount she had at one of her jobs ran out -- and we are dealing with this
out of pocket. We are looking at creative ways to keep paying the bills, and one
idea was to do a benefit in NYC.
So
the first one will be:
Sun
Sept 27 2009
Sullivan Hall
214 Sullivan St NYC
THE
MUSIC OF FRANK ZAPPA.
7pm doors 8pm show
$15adv $20dos.
18 +
Under 18 w/parent
The
acts onstage will be :
PROJECT/OBJECT
ACOUSTIC
(with Andre Cholmondeley, Dave Johnsen, Robbie Mangano, Jordan Shapiro, Eric
Slick and SPECIAL GUESTS including Candi Jiosne)
and
THE
SCHOOL OF ROCK ALLSTARS
(performing the best of Zappa with a full electric band!!)
I
feel this is extra appropriate since Project/Object once raised over 10,000 for
prostate cancer research, when we sold out Irving Plaza - one of the greatest
venues around - on Halloween 2001. The connectedness of Good Karma is also in
play -- as the Irving Plaza show was co-produced with NYC rock radio station
Q-104.3. At the time, the GM of the station was a huge Zappa fan -
Matt Ross, who got behind the show in a massive way.
As
a result of doing the Irving Plaza show, Matt became and still is a close friend
of the band --and subsequently he met Paul Green, they began to work on ideas
together and now Matt is the CEO of School Of Rock. Everyone in Project/Object
has been connected to Rock School in one way or another -- we have all taught,
run rehearsals, or attended there. It's all connected.
For
those who would like to help -- but cannot come to New York:
--
we have a pay pal account as well as a PO Box you can send a donation
check/money order to. Here are other options:
You
can go to paypal.com and make payments to projectobject@earthlink.net .
You
can send a check or money order written to CHERYL JIOSNE to:
Cheri
Jiosne Cancer Fund
PO BOX 16672
Asheville NC
28801
Thanks!
No amount is too small.....Stand by for further info and please forward this to
anyone you think would be interested.
Thanks so much for all your support, in so many ways through the years. She is a fighter and we will make it thru this difficult time, with victory over this!

Project/Object
with special guests... Ike Willis and Ray White !!!
The Music Of FRANK ZAPPA..and more
IKE
and RAY's FIRST TOUR TOGETHER IN OVER 25 YEARS!!!
Featuring: Ike Willis, Ray White, Andre' Cholmondeley, David Johnsen, Eric
Svalgard, Jim Ruffi
WINTER TOURDATES BELOW !!
Hello
and how are you?!?
Hoping
you had a great Christmas, Chanukah, Solstice, Kwaanza, Pagan Sun Worship day --
or Atheistic hangout movie night!! Whatever you did or are doing, it's all good.
We
are putting the finishing touches on what promises to be a historic and
fantastic run with the two and only IKE WILLIS & RAY WHITE ....!!
Ike
and Ray, as you know - remain two of Frank Zappa's most beloved and listened-to
frontmen/vocalist/guitarists. Between them they appear on over 25 of Zappa's
releases from 1978 onwards.
Ike
and Ray have not toured together in over TWENTY FIVE (25) YEARS !!!.
The
1984 tour ended on Dec 23, 1984, Universal
Ampitheater, Universal City. Since then, as you well know, Ike Willis has
toured with Project/Object for nearly 15 years, and in that time Ray White has
performed with us a handful of times in San Francisco and at Festivals around
the country. Those occasions remain the only times these legendary performers
have shared the stage since Zappa Tour 1984.....
Now...
we bring you an opportunity to see them on an exclusive New Year's/Holiday tour
with Project/Object.
This
tour also marks the return of an old friend and Project/Object Alumnus - Drummer
Jim Ruffi. Jim did a few short runs with Ike and the band back in 1999, and he
and I have been involved in several live and studio projects, including
recordings with Ike Willis and unsung genius songwriter Chris McKenna. Really
folks, check this man's wonderful music out.... I already know you have great
taste in music !!! http://www.myspace.com/chrismckennamusic
Anyway.......Jim
Ruffi ably steps into the drumchair as a result of Eric Slick's leave of
abscence. Come check him out !!
As
always, the setlist will feature some old P/O favorites, some new items from the
vast Zappa catalog, and, but, especially material that Ike and Ray are known for
separately and together. Just hearing these voices together in harmony is a
thing of wonder. Take a look on youtube at the clips of the famous NYC Pier,
August 1984 show, immortalized on the "Does Humor Belong In Music" DVD to get an idea of
the dynamic these guys whip up. We hope to see you there, say hi!!!
ALSO--
as always we have our "Project/Object Local Crew Program" in effect.
Many of you know what this is and have kindly participated -- For those new to
the idea -- what we do is solicit volunteers from our fan base to be
"roadie for a day" and help the band in/out of the club, assist with
setup etc. In exchange the "roadie" gets a free ticket to the show, a
beverage or two, access to soundcheck, pictures with the alumni, and autographs
from Ike and Ray on their raggedy LP covers dug up from their basement.
We
still need to fill in a couple cities on this tour -- especially the new ones.
If you are interested in this venture ---please email me for further details and
make the subject line "P/O LOCAL CREW <city of the gig> ".
Please
don't write back with the actual words <city of the gig> in there. That
will, sadly, be a failed cognition test, and we need you to be able to follow
simple instructions. Being a musician -or- having a knowledge of musical
equipment, and a willingness to schlep gear are all you need to qualify !
ALSO
-- thanks again for all the well wishes and support. My partner Cheri Jiosne is
still valiantly fighting her battle against breast cancer. After 6 months of a
chemo program, she reached a plateau. For about 6 weeks now she has been on a
very promising program specially geared towards her type of tumor. So far -- so
good -- and we are staying upbeat and positive every day. Still -- even though
some kind of beginning of a change in the US health system began yesterday with
the Health Bill being passed - that won't help us financially anytime soon. I
will be donated all my proceeds from this tour -as well as the profits from
T-Shirt sales - to her cause.
I
continue to reach out to anyone that wants to help - (THANK YOU!!!)
There
is info on www.projectobject.com, scroll down to the "THANK YOU" blog
post, or you can just email me.
We
have TWO options:
1) sending her a check directly (email me for address or check the site)
2) donating directly via PAYPAL : send it to the address
"projectobject@earthlink.net". Note: my first name "Hugh
(Cholmondeley)" will return in the confirmation email.
Every
penny counts!! Even $5 will go to very good use for medications, travel to
treatment etc. This sh*t is expensive!!
NOW...LET's
CRANK SOME FRANK !!

YOU ALL ON THE ROAD!!!!!!
